Waterfall Way

We drove the Waterfall Way from Armidale to Ebor. As we headed towards the Great Divide, the brown dry land slowly transformed into lush temperate forest. At an altitude of 1300 metres Ebor Falls were flowing.

A spur-of-the-moment decision led us into the most out-of-the-way, eerie and enchanting place, Point Lookout. This lookout is a mountain on the Snowy Range, a spur of the Great Dividing Range . We were told that on a good clear day you could see Port Macquarie. Given it was cloudy, we weren’t expecting to see Port Macquarie. We didn’t however expect to be find a setting that would transport us into the magical world of the Lord of the Rings. A short track led us through a dense and lush green forest where lichen hung from every branch and moss gathered on every ancient rocks and boulders.

Check out the Gallery for some amazing images that capture the ooh and aah moments of Point Lookout in New England National Park.
