Tocumwal to Dubbo
We left Melbourne on March 18th and slowly making our way north hoping to make it to Cape York. We decided to head inland, bypass Sydney and we figured we should hit the central north coast sometime in April.
We have spent the last week visiting Tocumwal, Jerilderie, Temora, Forbes and Dubbo. I had forgotten how friendly and warm people are in small towns. As we wander around town, people stop to greet and have a chat and they go out of their way to help you.
It’s been stiflingly hot since we left Melbourne. The humidity is insane. Reminds me of Asia during the monsoon season. You find yourself looking to the skies hoping that it will rain. Swimming in the Murray river at Tocumwal provided relief from the heat of the day.
Travelling up the highway and down smaller roads, it’s clearly evident that the drought is having an affect. The land is parched. brown, dusty and lifeless. This area is desperately needing rain. Serious rain.
The moment comes when you hear the magic sound of raindrops. Relief at last.
Drop, drop drop, drop.
That’s It! No more raindrops. 1.2 mm
And the irony is that it’s raining in areas nearby and cyclones are causing havoc in NT and the Pilbara.
So far we have stayed in towns that are RV friendly. These towns have a designated area setup for campers like ourselves who are self sufficient and not needing the jumping castle, activity centre, toilet, water etc etc. just a place to park for the night. In return, we leave a donation or pay a set fee per night that goes towards a community initiative. We fuel up, buy local produce at the community market, have a meal and visit local attractions. These towns are doing it tough and every little bit we can do helps.

Great to hear from you. Life goes on here in the big smoke. I got to work this morning at 6.50 am. I came from Graham’s and left at 6.10. The traffic at that hour was quite heavy. I hope you have a wonderful time. lots of love Robbie
