South Australia Here We Come
Today we crossed the Wimmera. It was 34˚ C. Hectares and hectares of wheat crop that clearly had been harvested, miles and miles of gum trees poking out amongst the bone dry land. Good wheat growing area. We briefly stopped at Nhil a gorgeous and well looked after country town in the heart of the wheat belt. It’s also an RV friendly town and that was evident as I made my way down town. Clearly I was the outsider, and I was greeted with a genuine smile and a welcome. I couldn’t walk past the Country Womens’ Association craft and cake shop without buying some cakes and a Pooh Bear. We drove past a town called Kaniva. Steve and I think it’s pronounced Can I’ve a …beer. We are staying the night in Mundulla a small town in South Australia. I went to the local general store and as I entered it took me back to my childhood. The raw timber floor boards creaked as you made your way up and down the aisles. We’re staying at Mundulla showgrounds and our donation to stay the night goes towards the local community; grassed area, power and the ablution block is spotless. Thanks Mundulla for making us feel so welcome.
