Kooljaman and Lombadina
We have spent the last twelve days in our tent on the Dampier Peninsula and sadly tomorrow we head back to Broome to continue our journey along the coast towards Perth. We are both looking forward to being back in our van, although we will miss the serenity, we are looking forward to the comforts that our van provides.
Yesterday we went to Kooljaman and I have added some amazing pics in the gallery that I took of the area. The beaches are absolutely beautiful. White sand, turquoise water just for us! We snorkelled, fished and swam.
Today we visited Lombadina and unbeknown to us in order to get to the beach tone needed to drive across the sand dunes. No markers or directions, ” Just look for the shelter on the beach!”
Our first challenge for today was to drive through sand over the dunes to the beach. So here’s a video of our first attempt on sand and when we finally arrived on the beach the view blew us away. We had the whole entire beach to ourselves.
We swam, fished and had a picnic lunch on the beach. Steve caught a baby Giant Trevally, which apparently are beautiful to eat, The downside is they need to be skinned and filleted.
So the second challenge presented itself and as fortune would have it, we had coverage. Yep nothing for miles around us but we were connected! So Steve was on the beach watching a You Tube video and tonight we had fish that Steve fished, filleted and skinned.
It was delish!
