Ikara Flinders Ranges

The Flinders Ranges are breathtakingly beautiful from the air and the ground.

We stayed in a bush camp for five nights; nightly fires to keep us warm, pitch black sky carpeted in stars and the stillness of the bush that lulled us to sleep. We watched the moon rise over the hill, creating shadows amongst the gum trees and watched the Southern Cross make its journey across the sky.

We drove through the Brachina and Bunyeroo Gorges; navigating our way over creek crossings, alongside enormous river red gums and ancient rock formations.

A flight from the air captured its vastness and our pilot, who was a local, provide a detailed and informative commentary on its history, evolution, transformation and its important significance geologically.

I’d like to pay my respects to the local traditional owners the Adnyamathanha People and thank them for welcoming us to their country.
