Brilliant Babinda Boulders

There are two camp areas in Babinda. Boulders Camp Area is free, whilst the Rotary Park Rest Area is a donation camp. As luck would have it, we scored a site at Boulders. Boulders camp Area is set amongst a lush rainforest and has limited number of sites, however the maximum stay is 72 hours so your chance of getting a site is reasonably good.

200 meters from Boulders Camp Area is a beautiful swimming and picnic area. The water was cool and refreshing. Nearby, there’s a terrific rainforest walk that leads you to three other lookouts and with all the recent rain, the falls were flowing hard and fast.

Babinda is known as “Australia’s Wettest” town so we a weren’t at all surprised when it rained for a whole day and and night over 2 days. A wet day became laundry day. The queue outside the bakery at Babinda says it all, great pies, bread and pastries.

If you’re passing through, make sure you stop at Babinda. It’s a gorgeous town with a lot of character and friendly folk.
