Big Red Bash
The Birdsville Big Red Bash. The most remote music festival in the world; it lies on a dry river channel at the base of Big Red on the edge of the Simpson Desert. As a newby to the festival my first impression was how super organised it was. Birdsville was a hive of activity. From fuelling up to collecting tix for the Bash, it all ran smoothly.
Here’s my tips
The Big Red Bash website provides extensive information about getting to the venue and what you need to do to prepare yourself for your 3 day stay.
- Don’t let the distance put you off from going.
- The days are hot and at dusk it can get very cold, so pack accordingly.
- You can stock up before or purchase from the variety of food vans at the bash.
- The dust is annoying, so bring a bandana to cover your face or buy one there.
- Visit Birdsville, a small town with an iconic pub.
My final tip , to avoid the mad rush out leave a day later. You’ll have most of the place to yourself and you’re not eating someone’s dust on the way out.
